| dc.description.abstract | El artículo inicia con una breve discusión del lugar que ocupa el estudio del ritual en la tradición de la antropología británica, después de lo cual se presentan las características generales de la Escuela de Manchester. En el cuerpo del artículo se presenta la carrera del estudio del ritual en la tradición de la Escuela de Manchester, con atención a los principales investigadores de dicha escuela que han estudiado el ritual (que son prácticamente todos): Max Gluckman, Victor Turner y, más recientemente, Richard Werbener, Don Handelman y Bruce Kapferer, entre otros. La contribución específica de la Escuela de Manchester en el estudio del ritual ha sido la atención prestada al aspecto político y secular del ritual. | es_VE |
| dc.description.abstract1 | The article sets out with a brief discussion of the place ritual occupies in the British anthropological tradition, whereupon the general characteristics of the Manchester School are presented. The body of the article speaks about the study of ritual in the historical development of the Manchester School, with special attention to the members of the Manchester School that have studied ritual (that is, virtally all of them): Max Gluckman, Victor Turner and, more recently, Richard Werbner, Don Handleman and Bruce Kapferer, among others. The specific con- tribution of the Manchester School to the study of ritual has been the attention directed toward the political and secular aspects of ritual. | es_VE |
