Nuestra primera mirada al Norte: la historiografía tradicional venezolana y sus lugares comunes en torno a la visión venezolana de los Estados Unidos como modelo político y social (1810-1812)

Abstract

This article represents the effort of considerate the way in which the traditional Venezuelan historiography got into the problem of the presence and influence of the United States as a model in the political and social imaginaries of venezuelan elites, between 1808 and 1812. Besides showing some historiographical examples the mean intention of the article is to set a scale of signs constituting common values in that traditional historiography in order to, in second place and from this set of scales, try to make an historiographical critic to analyze the basis and the authenticity of this common places always present in those visions of what we have called our first look at the north.
